ITALIAN LAKES WEDDING

Which Lake should you choose for your Italian destination wedding?
For many couples a Wedding on the Italian Lakes epitomise the perfect setting for a romantic Wedding in Italy. However when it comes to choosing your Italian Wedding Destination, which Lake should you choose?

There are four main Italian Lakes in the north of Italy: Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Lake Garda and Lake Orta, and each has its own particular character but all with mountain panoramic vistas unlike anywhere else in the world.

Lake Como with a reputation as a haunt of Hollywood A-listers, is the most famous among the Lakes. In terms of Lake Como Wedding Venues, there is a lot on offer including a variety of grand Villas scattered all along its coast but mainly around the towns of Cernobbio, Bellagio and Lenno. Rental fees for a Lake Como Villa vary from €5,000 to €12,000 for a wedding reception.

If couples prefer a grand venue with accommodation onsite, Lake Como offers a number of stunning luxury Hotels. Whilst for couples who wish to enjoy the beauty of the Lake in a more intimate setting, there are some lovely Restaurants with private beaches or mountain views which can be hired exclusively. In this case the rental fee is around €3,000.

Most Lake Como Wedding Venues only allow their preferred suppliers to be used for wedding receptions. This applies mostly to caterers, music and florists. This may restrict the options a couple has to choose from among their preferred suppliers, especially when working within a set budget. Due to the proximity to residential areas, most venues do not allow music past midnight.
The popularity of Lake Como is well reflected in the pricing of all suppliers involved in the wedding industry, which are typically higher than on other Lakes.

Lake Maggiore, with its smaller islands, Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori (also known as Borromean Islands), is an equally luxurious Lake. The variety of Lake Maggiore Wedding Venues are more competitively priced than Lake Como and couples can choose from sumptuous Villas to more intimate Restaurants and Hotels.

In addition to the recommended couple's boat ride to take some romantic pictures after the ceremony, couples getting married on Lake Como can stop at the stunning Italian-style baroque gardens of Isola Bella.

Lake Garda, the biggest of the Italian Lakes, has idyllic civil ceremonies venues such as Benaco Towers however, along its coasts, only Restaurants and an handful of small Hotels can be found. Villas are not typical of this Lake and most venues are inland.

However Lake Garda offers one of the most luxurious wedding venues on the Lakes, Isola del Garda. The Venetian neo-Gothic style villa built in the nineteenth century and adorned with Italian and English hanging gardens and a centuries-old park stands majestic on a small island only a short boat rive from any of the ports along the Lake coast.

Lake Orta is the smallest and as such offers some lovely and intimate restaurants, some with a private beach. However, not overlooking the Lake but only a few minutes away from it, stands the stunning Villa Crespi. This Moorish style historic residence is a 5 start Relais and Chateaux Hotel which hosts a 1 Michelin start Restaurant. The Villa is surrounded by a park and offers an incredible corner of paradise in the peaceful village of Orta San Giulio.
