Upon seeing Tonnara di Scopello, neither could remain indifferent. As the oldest tuna fishery in Sicily, this historic site has been meticulously transformed into a sought-after hotel and premier Sicily wedding venue.

What makes the Tonnara so unique?

The Welcome Event: A Sicilian Market Extravaganza
To keep the main venue a surprise, Maddie and Felix hosted their welcome dinner at a nearby tower overlooking the stacks. We leaned into the island’s vibrant heritage, creating a traditional Sicilian market-style dinner.
Hand-painted stalls in bold, primary colors offered guests local delicacies—from fresh arancini to artisanal cheeses—setting a festive, high-energy tone for the weekend ahead. It was the perfect introduction to the island's sensory richness.

The Jewish Ceremony: A Chuppah Between Sea and Sky
While the first night was rustic and traditional, the wedding day transitioned into an elegant, lively celebration. For the Jewish wedding ceremony, we designed a grand Chuppah that embraced the dramatic landscape.
We utilized a lush base of greenery intertwined with vivid fuchsia and orange blooms. These pops of color were specifically chosen to contrast against the deep sapphire blue of the Mediterranean backdrop, creating a frame that was as breathtaking as the vows themselves.

The Reception: Imperial Tables and Hand-Painted Details
The dinner reception took place in the heart of the Tonnara courtyard. We opted for long imperial tables to foster a sense of community and celebration. The decor was a masterclass in "elevated rustic":

1. Textural Centerpieces: A mix of stone and terracotta vases filled with seasonal fruits and wildflowers.
2. Sicilian Craftsmanship: Blue and white hand-painted baseplates grounded the design.
3. Personalized Favors: Bespoke ceramic tiles served as place cards, providing guests with a beautiful, lasting memento of the island.

Dancing Until Dawn: The No-Curfew Advantage
One of the greatest perks of a Tonnara di Scopello wedding is the freedom it offers. When hired exclusively, the venue has no curfew.

1. The party began on the elevated terrace under the stars and eventually migrated down to the private beach. As the sun began to peek over the horizon, the celebration culminated in a legendary early morning dip in the warm July sea—the ultimate end to a destination wedding in Italy.
